URGENT SAFETY RECALL
Vehicle Safety Recall – Hyundai Veloster and Tucson 2.0L “Nu” engine recall
(Contact Attempt Number #03)
This recall requires your urgent attention.
Dear Valued Hyundai Customer,
Hyundai is recalling certain Hyundai Tucson (2017 model) and Hyundai Veloster (2015 – 2016 model years).
In total,
- 12,749 Hyundai Tucson vehicles (2017 model year) produced between 19 February 2016 to 16 October 2017;
- 1,082 Hyundai Veloster vehicles (2015 ~ 2016 model years) produced between 21 January 2014 and 6 July 2016
Our records indicate that your Hyundai vehicle () is affected by the vehicle safety recall.
You can locate the VIN on your vehicle on the passenger side of your vehicle's dash (viewed from outside), the car's registration certificate or the Service Warranty Passport.

PART A. DEFECT, HAZARD AND REMEDY
What is the defect?
The subject vehicles’ engine may exhibit abnormal noise and potentially seize. This may cause a sudden loss of motive power and/or a vehicle fire.
What is the hazard?
A sudden loss of motive power whilst driving and/or a vehicle fire could increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, bystanders and/or damage to property.
There are no known injuries or deaths associated with the defect, either in Australia or outside of Australia.
Remedy
To remedy this concern, Hyundai will inspect the engine for any abnormal noise
- If no noise is audible (PASS), no further action is required.
- If abnormal noise is detected (FAIL), the (short) engine will be replaced.
There is no charge for this repair.

Book an appointment for repair
Please contact an authorised Hyundai dealer to arrange a time to have the repair performed.

Alternatively, you can contact Hyundai Customer Care 1800 186 306 to locate your nearest dealership to book an appointment. Select option 3 to locate your nearest dealership and book an appointment. For all other enquiries select option 4.
This work will be carried out free of charge. Please present this notice at your Hyundai dealer when attending your appointment.
Interim measure
If your vehicle displays an engine warning light, please stop driving and contact your local Hyundai dealer.
